Tips for a beautiful Thanksgiving table setting!

by Cindy Rippe

I love to decorate for fall and Thanksgiving. I think that Thanksgiving is a time for us to be thankful for our bounty! So--get out all your best china, silver and crystal! Set the table as if you were expecting royalty! Your family and friends will greatly appreciate it. If you don't have china or nice dishes, maybe you can borrow some from your Grandmother or Aunt.  If you are on a budget, another wonderful place to find dishes, is your local dollar store. You can find all kinds of charger plates (they are the larger, more decorative plates used under the dinner plate)

On this table I started with a fall tablecloth, then gold charger plates, topped with white dinner plates, followed by cinnamon colored salad plates. Next, I added matching cloth napkins with  place cards. I found the place cards for $1.99 at a craft store and I used rub off letters for the guest's names. I find that if you use place cards, it helps  your guests to know exactly where they are to sit and cuts down on confusion. And it makes them feel special! My centerpiece was 3 silver pumpkins in different sizes. I tucked some spanish moss under and between the pumpkins and I stuck a couple silk fall sunflowers and berries in as well.

I also used vintage silver goblets in different heights, and added fresh cut mums. And don't forget the candles! Everyone looks beautiful in candlelight! Here I used small votive candles and taper candles in crystal candlesticks. I hope this gives you the inspiration to set a beautiful fall table for your loved ones! Happy Thanksgiving!!
